I am privileged and grateful to live, work & play within the traditional territory of the ɬəʔamen (Tla'amin) Nation peoples who have sustainably lived on these lands for many thousands of years as the original inhabitants.

Civic Leadership Experience 

 

I am honoured to have been a former two-term City Councillor (elected in 2014 and 2018)

in the city currently known as "Powell River" 

 

I have focused on: 

  • climate change mitigation and adaptation solutions; 

  • relationship building & reconciliation with our ɬəʔamen neighbours;

  • strategies for reducing waste that is sent to landfill;

  • more responsible development;

  • social planning and poverty reduction;

  • supporting arts, culture and heritage; 

  • supporting and collaborating with the health authority on healthcare services they provide;

  • and making our community a more livable, resilient city. 

 

My local government board and committee experience has included:

  • Two terms as one of the Municipal Directors appointed to the qathet Regional District Board;

  • Chair of the Powell River Regional Hospital District Board from 2018 - 2022; 

  • Chair of the Climate Change Mitigation & Adaptation Committee; 

  • Youth Council mentor;

  • Member of the BC Municipal Climate Leadership Council steering committee;

  • Appointed to the Vancouver Island & Coastal Communities Climate Leaders Committee;

  • Member of the National Climate Caucus BC Chapter

 

Now the Climate Leaders Program Manager with Community Energy Association, supporting elected officials

to move forward on climate action in their communities.
